这首粗口歌引起社会各界人士特别是人权团体的批评。2000年10月，费城马丁·路德·金联合会的人士和数百名自发性的抗议者甚至组织了游行示威。抗议人群聚集在两家当地电台门口，高呼抗议口号，并要求电台对此唱片禁播。NBA总裁斯特恩也要站出来和艾弗森划清界限，称这首单曲中的一些词语“粗俗不堪甚至有反社会之嫌”。
不过艾弗森在指责和批评面前早已经从容淡定，他首先发表了一份道歉声明：“如果那些同性恋团体或妇女感到受了冒犯，那就在我的歌曲中寻找我想表达的深刻歉意吧。要是孩子们认为我的歌曲在宣扬暴力，我恳请他们不要购买这张唱片，我希望孩子们永远生活在梦想之中。”
接着，艾弗森表示不会改变歌词内容，因为歌词来自他的个人经历。“在进入NBA之前，我就生活在这样一种环境里，在我的日常生活中，我看到了太多的性、暴力和毒品。”艾弗森说，“这（歌词）是娱乐，是一种艺术形式。” (以上介绍转自网络)
